Shahid, I met this rickshaw driver at I.I Chundrigar Road, and as usual, traffic was at its peak. I told him to take a different route. He instinctively asked me “Sir did you get the news alert about the traffic or did you check Google map?” At this point, I was shocked because no one can expect this kind of question from a rickshaw driver.

When we reached at the Press Club there was a protest going on, and he said, “Sir in ko kuch kaam nahi hota jab dekho shaam me protest karte hain kuch kaam hi karlein. Main 5 baje office se free hokar rickshaw chalata hun inko bhi seekhna chaye.”

He then told me he is working at a well known Petroleum Company as a clerk. I asked him why are you running this rickshaw since you work at a well-known organization.  Now here comes the most moving part

“Sir mujhe parhne ka shouq hai main job karke apne ma aur biwi bachon ka kharcha uthata hun. Graduation kar chuka hun aur MBA karaha hun KASBIT se, MBA karne k liye rickshaw se paise kamata hun aur MBA ki fees bharta hun. Weekend par classes leta hun, MBA complete karke agay barhunga clerk reh kar thak gaya hun ab tu mein officer banonga.”

That day I was really inspired by his spirit. He was full of positivity and I wish and pray that he gets success in his life.
